"THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EVENT AND CONTRIBUTION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ECONOMY OF THE PHILIPPINES "

PRE-SPANISH ERA

The life of Filipinos  before the Spaniards came in the country live a life that is similar or other people from other countries in the primitive society. They were considered wanderer of the land, transferred from one place to another, used to hunt for food, and protect their lives from the intimidating environment.

Their only motivation for moving is to stay alive. They were able to learn new skills such as running, jumping, leaping, and even climbing as a result of this, making them stronger and more physically fit.

DURING SPANISH REGIME

The loss of the Philippines by the Spaniards had little effect on the physical landscape. Except for the forced labour of those from lower social classes in the construction of churches, there are no other tasks. Since they only waited for the harvest time after planting, people lived sedentary lives. In 1725, Fray Gaspar de San Agustin published a paper describing the history of Agustinian missions in the Philippine in which Filipinos described as "sleepy,  sluggish little inclined to work.

This was the country's first time hosting the competition, and as a result, physical education and sports in the Philippines have been given a lot of attention and time. The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development was founded by the government in the hopes of developing youth into well-disciplined and productive members of society (MYSD).

In the field of physical education in the country, there is always hope. Even so, despite the fact that there have been times when the area has been on the decline, those who feel that physical education is more than a field to follow, but an aspect on which to depend for the betterment of an individual's life and the advancement of society will always be optimistic about its future.
